TEU and ASMS to launch joint membership.

Te Hautū Kahurangi | Tertiary Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Toi Mata Hauora | Association of Salaried Medical Specialists that will enable joint membership of both unions for medical academics – those employed by universities and who also work clinically for Te Whatu Ora.

This move will enable them to sign one membership form, pay the ASMS membership fee, and belong to both unions for the price of one.

TEU’s Te Pou Ahurei | National Secretary Sandra Grey says the MOU is great news for both unions.

“This will enable medical academic staff to have their employment matters and academic professional issues taken care of by TEU while their professional issues as medical practitioners are handled by ASMS.”

“Ultimately it will make both unions stronger, while giving members enhanced protections and benefits. Everyone wins.”

TEU will communicate directly with medical academic staff when the administrative forms and systems for joint membership have gone live.
