Introducing Our New Member Benefit Program - Better Off Together.

Last year, we conducted a survey to gather your feedback on our current Member Benefits program with Member Advantage. The results indicated that many members were not aware that there was a benefits program and what it entailed. Here are some of the key point from that feedback:

  • Benefits need to be relevant to the financial capacity and needs of the members.
  • Usable on a regular basis if possible.
  • Local due to variety of geographic locations of the membership.
  • Remove the elitist or corporate types of offers.
  • Support local Māori businesses if possible.
  • Some members shared concerns that offering membership benefits might distract the Union from its core focus—bargaining on behalf of members.

In response to your feedback, we’ve been working with HealthCarePlus, who are a TEU-owned, non-profit organisation, to develop and manage a better programme on our behalf.

Established 60 years ago by the TEU and other like-minded unions, HealthCarePlus was originally formed to help TEU members and their families access affordable primary healthcare through competitive insurance plans. Today, HealthCarePlus uses the combined strength of all their unions owners, to create real, lasting value for their members - by offering a wide range of member benefits and services primarily aimed at supporting members physical, mental and financial health and wellbeing.

We are excited to announce that we will be moving our new member benefit programme away from Member Advantage and over to the new HealthCarePlus program called Better Off Together.

By doing this, we can continue to focus all of our time and energy on our union’s key goals while also ensuring that you continue to receive valuable member benefits from an organisation that we know has best interests of union members at the centre of what it does.

The “Better Off Together” program is now in its final stages and will be available for TEU members by the end of October (TBC). We will notify you once it’s ready to use.

Please note that from 1st November 2024 (TBC), Member Advantage will no longer be available. If there are any current offers you wish to continue using, please let us know, and we will work with HealthCarePlus to try to provide similar offers from other providers.
