What could and should a Te Tiriti-led union look like?.

In the latest episode of our video series that gives voice to member perspectives on our new Te Tiriti-led rules, Matua Hōne Sadler and Dr Heather Came discuss the question: What could and should a Te Tiriti-led union look like?

For Matua Hōne, “it should look like all of us in New Zealand. It should be diverse, to represent the diversity in our population. And that doesn’t mean we leave somebody behind – they’ve all got to be with us.”

And as Dr Came points out, “the beauty of the union is it’s about connecting up spheres of influence and collectively we can do extraordinary things. And so it’s about every single teacher, researcher, every member of this union taking action.”

Matua Hone sums it up very simply with “Aroha tētahi ki tētahi – that we care for each other.”
