Collective action for a changing climate online symposium 2026.

The symposium is free and open to people across tertiary education, the wider union movement, and others interested in collective responses to climate change and sustainability. You do not need to be a TEU member to attend. Sessions include:

Panel 1. Learning for change

What should education enable people to know, do and become in a changing climate — and how can teaching and learning contribute to a more sustainable and equitable future?

Panel 2. Research that powers change

What research and knowledge can we apply to creating a more sustainable and equitable future? What enables that research to flourish, connect with communities and contribute to change?

Panel 3. Leading change by example

How can those of us working in tertiary institutions lead through our own climate and sustainability actions, support workers and communities through change, and demonstrate what a just transition can look like in practice?

Panel 4. Collective union action for a changing climate

How are workers impacted by climate? What role can unions play in achieving a fair and just transition? What can we learn from climate and sustainability action across different sectors, and where could unions work together for change?
