Virginia Ghiglione is a technician in the College of Creative Arts, at Massey University Wellington Campus. She’s also a General Staff Rep on the National Women’s Committee.

“I’m all about community. I believe that the saying ‘it takes a village’ applies to everything in life. At work, when you’re part of the union, you always have a community that has your back. In good and bad times, you’re never alone! That is exactly why I wanted to take a union role, so I can be that community for my colleagues, and support others when they need it the most.

“In my role I love the diverse range of creative people and projects I get to work with: my tech team, the academics, and the students. Every semester is different, every day is different. But this can also be a challenge! Because we have to be quick on our feet and be ready to respond to last minute issues all across the college!”

Each fortnight we want to profile members from across the motu in our member spotlight – if you’re keen to tell your work and union story, get in touch!
