Meet Thad.

Te Hautū Kahurangi | Tertiary Education Union’s newest staff member, Thad Hadaway, started in our Christchurch office back in March.

A graduate of the University of Canterbury where he studied English Literature and History, Thaddaeus says he loves being back in his old stomping ground as a TEU organiser. His new role also includes work at Lincoln and Otago universities.

“Union work is very rewarding, and important. I love the variety of work I’m doing here, particularly the advocacy aspect. The job is about bringing people together, be they two parties to an employment dispute that need to find a settlement, or members that need to come together to achieve a collective goal.”

“But most of all I love the fact that there’s little moral ambiguity in working for a union. Working to make society better is the ultimate form of job satisfaction.”
