Don’t forget to fight back on May Day 2025.

Hau Taki Haere | Tertiary Update Vol 29, No 7

This Thursday, the CTU and the TEU, along with unionised workers all over Aotearoa, from all sorts of industries and walks of life, will stand up and fight back together on May Day – Maranga Ake.

Don’t forget, there is a lot at stake.

Aotearoa needs to invest in our infrastructure and our future – our public transport, our schools, our hospitals, our care economy, our science community, our Kaupapa Māori services and, crucially for you and all of the above, our wānanga, polytechnics, and universities.

Instead, the current government has been wasting time and resources attacking Te Tiriti, the environment, the poor, and the disabled. They prioritise the tobacco industry, property developers, and big corporations over scientists, teachers, students, and communities.

It’s time to make your voice heard. Stand with thousands of other union members and demand better for tertiary education and for Aotearoa.

Te Hautū Kahurangi | Tertiary Education’s Te Pou Ahurei | National Secretary Sandra Grey is calling on all of us to come out in force and send a strong message to those in power that we demand better for tertiary education and for Aotearoa. Click here to watch.

A full list of times and venues can be found here.

When we fight back together, we win.
