Tiakina te Taiao | Climate Action Network.
Tiakina te Taiao envisages a tertiary education sector that is set to play a crucial role in ensuring a sustainable, equitable, and zero-carbon Aotearoa. We are working toward a Tiriti-centred future that sees all facets of our tertiary education sector acting together to mitigate climate change, ensure climate justice, and contribute to just transitions.
Our network aims to build relationships between TEU members, other unions, and education- and climate-related groups to share knowledge, disseminate information, and build lobbying power.
Tiakina te Taiao meets online several times per year to debate ideas, formulate actions, and provide support for enabling TEU branches to both act locally and contribute to a national strategy for addressing climate-related issues.
Through collective action and industrial activism, we are working to protect and empower TEU members, minimise our impact on the environment, and foster ahikā — the interrelationship of people and the land.
