Vote in your strike ballot.

Hau Taki Haere | Tertiary Update Vol 28, No 16

Strike ballots are now open at six universities and Te Hautū Kahurangi | Tertiary Education Union is encouraging all eligible members to cast their vote.

All financial TEU members who are covered by collective agreements currently being negotiated at University of Auckland (excluding Medical Academics and Security and Gardeners), Massey University, Victoria University, Lincoln University, University of Canterbury and University of Otago who are eligible to vote should have received ballots.

If you are covered by one of these agreements and you have not received a ballot, you are encouraged to contact your branch organiser.

Eligible members will be asked to vote on whether or not they are ‘in favour of the strikes’. Strikes called at any given university, at any given time will be determined by TEU national office in consultation with the local branch bargaining team.

Tumu Whakarae – Tiriti | National President – Tiriti, Dr Julie Douglas says “any strike vote is a collective democratic decision that will affect everyone, and participation is an obligation all members have to one another. Please make your voice heard whether you support the potential strikes or not.”

“When the votes are in, it will be absolutely critical that we all respect and honour whatever decision we collectively make.”
