Union education coming to a campus near you.

Te Hautū Kahurangi | Tertiary Education Union’s newly designed one-day Level 1 delegate training courses have been running successfully throughout 2023. Our latest training days were held in Christchurch and Dunedin a fortnight ago and featured a cross-section of the tertiary sector coming together to talk about effective union activism.

Delegates from universities, Te Pūkenga, Te Rito Maioha, and Literacy Aotearoa discussed topics such as the structure and rules of the TEU, building power, organising conversations, the role of the delegate and knowing your Collective Agreement.

By the end of the course, delegates had learned, amongst other things, to identify and discuss how the political and legal environment impacts on the workplace, and demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to build the union in the workplace.

There are further courses due to be run in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty this year and a full calendar of courses being run in 2024 and 2025 is coming soon. To find out more and/or register your interest for future courses please contact Te Pou Mātauranga me Te Pou Ahumahi | Education & Industrial Campaigns Officer Megan Morris.
