TEU to host secure work conference.

Te Hautū Kahurangi | Tertiary Education Union will host an online conference to examine ‘secure work’ on Friday 7 November. The hui will discuss the actions we should take together to ensure secure work is the norm in the tertiary education sector.

Panels will look at the reasons large numbers of workers on hourly paid and fixed term agreements are part of the design of the tertiary education system, the varied impacts of insecure work on different groups of workers, and at what more we can do.

Tumu Whakarae – Tiriti | National President – Tiriti Dr Julie Douglas says “we are excited to organise this hui. Secure work has been an area of great concern to us for quite some time."

“This is a wonderful opportunity to come together, not just for those who have experienced the negative aspects of precarious work, but also for an opportunity to do a deep dive into the drivers behind precarious employment and look for ways to move forward.”

The hui will feature an exciting lineup of speakers, both local and international, to be announced at a later date.
