State of the Sector research makes a difference.

There are only two weeks to go until the 2022 iteration of Te Hautū Kahurangi | Tertiary Education Union’s State of the Sector online survey of worker experiences in tertiary education is open for responses.

For Tumu Whakarae | National President Tina Smith, it’s an exciting time.

“Timely collection of information about our sector and the people who work in it is extremely useful, not only for the TEU but for everyone with a stake in tertiary education. We use State of the Sector data every day to inform our thinking, as well as to lobby decision makers and advocate for the change we need.”

“It’s very important that the survey collects as much data as possible and we’d love to beat last year’s record of 1,021 responses. So please, keep an eye on your inbox and take some time to have your say when you receive your invitation to participate.”

TEU has published the reports of all previous surveys and they are available to all.

The State of the Sector survey is designed to understand the working experiences of professional/general/allied and academic kaimahi across the sector including universities, ITPs, Wānanga and PTEs.

The data is used in three key ways: member advocacy, communications about the working experiences of kaimahi in the sector, and to guide the strategic planning of our campaigns.

This year’s survey will begin collecting responses from Monday 28 March and will be open until 16 April. All TEU members will receive an email link to complete the survey.
