Lincoln job cuts affect 40 FTEs.

Last week Lincoln University employees were called to an all-staff meeting where it was announced that 40 FTEs will be cut. Associate Professor and Branch Co-president at Lincoln, Dr Cor Vink, spoke to The Press and to RNZ about the announcement. You can read those interviews here: The Press (paywalled) and RNZ.

Subsequent reporting on RNZ about the Tertiary Education Commission warning of a shortfall in funding for domestic students points to a continued government approach of austerity and pressure on our tertiary sector, while unemployment and cost of living pressures rise with a particular pressure on our students. We need a government that values tertiary education and that supports students into good work and good futures.
