Delegate education 2025.
Feb. 5, 2025
2025 is off to a great start with a number of education opportunities already booked in for members to participate in.
Delegate training aims to provide skills, knowledge and confidence to carry out several different roles in the workplace, we now have three levels of courses available following the recent approval of our L3 course. If you are interested in becoming a delegate, or extending your skill set, please talk with your local organiser about becoming a delegate at your site.
LEVEL ONE - Effective Delegates (1 Day in person) – This is an entry level delegate course which covers the basics of our TEU structures, history, the role of a delegate and knowing your collective agreement. It is a prerequisite to our Level 2 course: Building an Organised Workplace.

We have also had a new course approved (employment related education leave) - Level 3: Developing Member Leaders. This is a full two days face to face, it considers different leadership approaches and how that could be applied in our TEU context. For more information please contact Te Pou Mātauranga me Te Pou Ahumahi | Education & Industrial Campaigns Officer Megan Morris.
Additionally, we will be running another Action Camp in Te Waipounamu 8-10 April, near Christchurch. The model previously used of TEU covering food and accommodation with branches covering the travel cost appears to have worked well. The programme for this course is much broader than what we cover in the standard delegate courses with a focus on the economic and political environments, building alliances, and some fun with craft-ivism. Finally, your last chance to register for the international Organising for Power course is by midday, Wednesday 5 February. Organising for Power’s Core Fundamentals is a skills-based training program that teaches you and your organising group how to win more and win better in the campaigns that matter most to you.
The next Core Fundamentals training takes place in weekly sessions over six (6) consecutive Friday mornings from February 14th until March 21st, 2025. The course covers the following: Core concepts and leader identification; semantics and the words we choose; structured organising conversations; credible plan to win and building a strong structure; charting and structure tests; and taking it home – from training to implementation.
