Te Hautū Kahurangi | Tertiary Education Union is promoting participation in two pieces of research – a survey of scientists and technologists; and research on the success and well-being of Māori Professional Staff in universities.

The survey, being carried out by The New Zealand Association of Scientists (NZAS), is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the science and technology environment in Aotearoa New Zealand by exploring the views, characteristics, careers, and demographics of scientists and technologists who work in Aotearoa New Zealand. The last survey of this kind was conducted in 2008; given the many changes that have occurred over the past 17 years, this survey is well overdue.

Meanwhile Naumai Hughes, a Doctor of Business Administration candidate at the University of Otago, is seeking participants for her study: "Factors Affecting the Success and Well-being of Māori Professional Staff in Aotearoa New Zealand Universities". Her aim is to explore the initiatives, support systems, and opportunities that contribute to the success and well-being of Māori professional staff within our universities, as well as to identify areas where further development may be needed.

Naumai says “I am seeking participants for interviews who are Māori professional staff (non-academic roles) within universities across Aotearoa. To discuss further, please feel free to contact me at my student email hugna737@student.otago.ac.nz or phone 021774367.”
