Daniel Achonwa - Unitec.

Daniel

I am an International Relationship Business Partner at Unitec and I have a strong desire to continue to represent the best interest of the general staff (and all TEU members) as the IPC representative, if given the chance.

Here is what I plan to achieve.

  1. Continue to champion equality, diversity, inclusion, listen to and be the voice of the voices unheard. For example, and among other things, I have remained at the forefront of the push for a collective agreement for allied staff (especially for certain branches) and now we are about to go into negotiations with Te Pukenga for a collective agreement. I would not relent in ensuring that we are able to negotiate the most favourable working conditions for our general staff members.
  2. I believe I not only have the practical knowledge and experience in the sector but also a healthy mix of qualities that make me the ideal candidate for this role. These have and will continually enable me positively impact the progression and development of effective policies and strategies of the Union that are fit for purpose.

My motivation to help change things for the better, especially things that affect the members, would enable me to bring tremendous focus to this position.

  1. Furthermore, I intend to continue to use this platform to recruit more members into the union (as I have successfully done over the past few years) and further provide a sense of direction as I contribute at the national level.

My object remains unwavering in the pursuit of influencing positive changes and helping to foster a cohesive, vibrant community that not only unites us but also nurtures our growth as a Union.

I look forward to being in the service of TEU and its members – at the national level.
