Te Wānanga Aronui o Tāmaki Makaurau - Auckland University of Technology branch members have this week voted to ratify a proposed settlement that will see a two year term for the academic and allied staff collective agreement.

The negotiating team delivered salary increases of 2.5%, an increase to the special responsibilities allowance, and a union-only agreement with a 10 week “no pass-on” to non-union members for each year of the salary increases.

With 119 new members this year, the AUT negotiating  team has been encouraged by the energy of AUT membership.

As TEU membership at AUT steadily grows, it’s important all staff working in our tertiary education institutions are aware of the benefits of joining TEU and standing together for decent pay and conditions.

Just as collective action and standing in solidarity with colleagues saw AUT’s lowest paid staff being paid the Living Wage rate in 2019, which was originally achieved in the 2018 settlement, now branch members at AUT have worked together to settle a collective agreement that increases salaries, travel, and meal allowances, increases acknowledgement of the special responsibilities of staff, and provides union-only benefits that recognise the efforts of TEU members.
