Cynthia Martell-Stark: Biography in support of the Nomination for the National Industrial and Professional Committee: Academic ITP Rep

Kia ora,

I have been fortunate enough to be a member of the IPC over the past two years. I have watched, listened, learned and contributed to the ongoing work of this important committee and feel a desire and passion to continue with my role for a second term. I will be able to build on this knowledge and experience to become an even more effective member to represent the ITP sector. The tertiary education sector and specifically the ITP sector is going through unprecedented change and I want to be part of ensuring that the TEU values and our collective voices are heard during this process. I have unfinished business in this committee and am excited about potentially being part of a working party to flesh out any future multi-employer collective agreement from the existing 16 ITP collective agreements. This will be a challenge that needs many hands and minds! My particular skills and education obtained from working in the ITP sector in the legal studies team for over 8 years and my qualifications in both Nursing, Teaching and Law bring a broad range of perspectives and skills that will be valuable moving forward in these challenging times. Being involved in the TEU on the National ITP committee is an honor and an opportunity to be part of a collective voice that can influence positive changes within the tertiary sector, and perhaps to be part of the groundbreaking history of the tertiary education union movement.

Nga mihi
