Tertiary Education Strategy
The government is currently developing a new Tertiary Education Strategy that will guide the tertiary education sector during the period 2010 to 2015.
The strategy, which will focus on “simplifying the funding system” and “lowering compliance costs and reducing central planning”, will emphasise the government’s intention to reduce central control for the sector. The strategy also will link future funding to performance.
The draft Tertiary Education Strategy 2010-15 sets out the Government’s expectations and priorities for New Zealand’s tertiary education system. The final document will guide the Tertiary Education Commission’s investment decisions and act as a reference point for the Government’s policy-making and relationships with the sector. You are encouraged to provide feedback to the Ministry of Education by 6 November 2009. You can do so by email to tertiary.strategy@minedu.govt.nz
