You are here: TEU – Tertiary Education Union / Election 2011

Election 2011

If you intend to vote for this government next election you need to tell it to change its tertiary education policy, because at the moment, good people are missing out on the chance to learn. Funding has fallen, institutions have been consistently reorganised so they are in a constant state of flux, students have been excluded from decision-making, community representatives have been prevented from having a say in the governance of their local tertiary institutions and staff workloads are continuing to grow.

New Zealand has a world-class tertiary education system with world-class people teaching and researching for it. But our tertiary education system should not have to withstand this onslaught.

Speak up for education rally, Nov 21, Cuba Mall, 5pm.

Support high-quality public education? Want politicians who stand up for high-quality public education? Well, join us then for a flaming extravagant musical and theatrical protest. Just six days before the general election we’ll be telling politicians of all persuasions and predilections that it is time to speak up for education [Read more...]

TEU has matched its membership database with the electoral roll and only been able [Read more...]

At the 2011 general election New Zealanders will be asked to vote on whether to keep MMP as our voting system. MMP is the fairest and most representative voting system available to New Zealanders.

Let’s keep MMP and make it even better! [Read more...]

Student:staff ratios 2008-2010 graph
