Minister for Education Chris Hipkins has released for consultation a final draft of the International Education Strategy.
The strategy retains much of what the previous National-led Government proposed in in the previous draft, published in July 2017.
This included a shift of focus away from growth of the sector to managing quality. The current strategy set targets for export income and student numbers, as well as encouraging graduates to get residence in New Zealand.
This new strategy would mark a move away from numerical targets and growth, towards a tighter focus on education quality and managing migrant numbers.
The deadline for comments on the draft strategy is 22 June.
