Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre has celebrated its takeover of Lincoln University’s Telford campus.
Ministers provided the consents necessary to allow Taratahi’s acquisition of the Telford campus in July, with the transfer taking effect on 31 July.
The Otago Daily Times reported that the celebration was attended by members of Lincoln University, Taratahi, the Telford Farm board, Telford students and representatives from the Clutha district.
According to the ODT, Arthur Graves, Chief Executive of Taratahi, told those assembled that Taratahi “may reshape [Telford] slightly, but we’ll do that together.”
Sandra Grey, national president of the TEU, said it was important staff are part of any decisions about the future of the institution.
“We’re pleased to hear Taratahi is committed to a collaborative approach to any changes in the way the institution is run. Staff at the institution have many years of teaching experience and understand the local community extremely well, so it’s vital they involved in any decisions about the future.”
The TEU has previously called on Ministers to put in place a properly funded long-term plan that will ensure continued provision of training opportunities in Balclutha.
