Learning without the hassle of lessons

Ever wanted to play with heavy welding equipment? Well, boy, has Wintec got a deal for you!

The polytechnic’s chief financial officer apparently noticed that its teaching laboratories and facilities were not financially productive when there were no staff or students in them. So why not rent them out, he presumably thought, like a gym for people to come in and do some casual practice on industrial machines.

Wintec calls it TechGym, because it is like Les Mills, but for tradies…

So 5-9pm Monday and Thursday; 10am-4pm Saturdays you too can try your hand on heavy fabrication equipment. Wintec says hours may increase as demand grows. Hopefully, that means late night Fridays?

Yes, as soon as you have passed the Safety and Basic Use class for the chosen equipment and technology ($50-$60 per class plus materials) you’re ready to sign up to a membership package, starting from the low, low rate of $63.75/month[1].

Wintec says TechGym is a modern environment where “people of all skill levels can come and use industrial tools, equipment and technology to design, create and build their own projects.”

Because, really, there is no better, more efficient way to learn than without the hassle and cost of restrictive expertly planned lessons delivered by qualified teachers.
