Current University of Auckland bargaining position
The employer put its “Best Offer” to TEU in mediation on Wed 22 June.
TEU responded with a counter offer, “TEU response to Employer, 24 June”.
The employer has rejected TEU’s counter offer and wants us to put its “Best Offer” to TEU members for ratification.
We have told them that we will meet with members in the first week of Semester 2 to discuss their offer and our counter offer to get a sense of membership feeling. It will not be a ratification meeting.
The employer offer has not changed in any substantive way since it was first offered to non-members back in November 2010. They still want some key academic conditions out of the employment agreement and into HR policy where they can be changed unilaterally by the employer.
TEU Analysis and Response to VC’s recent best offer of 22 June 2011
The following is the response and analysis from TEU president, action committee, and bargaining team of the most recent contract offer from the VC.
We do not recommend accepting this offer at this time. We will discuss it with members along with TEU’s counter proposal at a members’ meeting in the first few weeks of Semester Two.
