TPPWatch is a network of concerned unions, groups and individuals formed to organise and support initiatives to oppose the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement.

Major activities during the week of the 4th round of negotiations to be held at the Sky City Casino are:

Protests:  Monday 6th December: “No to the TPPA. Stop Gambling with Our Future”.  Coordinated by Global Peace & Justice Auckland.

8.30am, SKYCITY Convention Centre, Federal Street, Auckland

5.30pm, Voyager Maritime Museum, Corner Quay and Hobson Streets, Auckland Viaduct Basin

Public meeting: Tuesday 7th December

6-8 pm  St-Matthew-in-the-City, cnr Hobson & Wellesley Sts, Auckland

Main speaker: Prof Jane Kelsey. Commentators Mike Smith, Sanya Read Smith (Third World Network), Andrew Campbell (FinSec) and other international guests

Professor Jane Kelsey will participate in a ‘stakeholder press conference’ on the TPPA. Access is for all media, not just media registered for the meeting.

Panel on Critical implications of TPPA: Monday 6th December

1 pm, SkyCity Marlborough Room 3

This panel will focus on the implications of a TPPA for intellectual property, including medicines; investment regulation; prevention of and responses to financial crises; democracy and transparency; and the development aspects of an agreement that aims to become an APEC-wide free trade agreement. In that context, it will also examine the challenges that a trade and investment agreement that is genuinely fit for the 21st century would need to address. MFAT has advised that this event is open only to ‘registered stakeholders’ and delegates to the TPPA negotiations and media are not invited.
