Call for Fiji Govt to reinstate Tevita Koroi
Fijian Teachers’ Association President, Mr. Tevita Koroi was dismissed last week from his position as principal of Nasinu Secondary School. Mr. Koroi was suspended from his school in December 2008, after his comments at the launch of Movement for Democracy in Fiji (MD Fiji). As well as being the president of the Fijian Teachers Association Mr. Koroi is also president of the Council of Pacific Education (COPE), which is a regional organisation of education unions from the South Pacific Region including the TEU. You can support Tevita Koroi by adding your name to our online form to the Fijian government, calling for his reinstatement: www.teu.ac.nz/?p=2376
Tell TEC what you think of PBRF
The TEC has released a consultation paper on the Reporting of PBRF Results.
Take some time to read especially section 5 – it is about the reporting of your personal PBRF quality category and component scores, and it asks whether these scores should be reported directly to your employer and only then passed on to you internally, or whether other pathways for reporting them should be used. You can make a submission to TEC on this matter. There’s a template for submissions at the bottom of the document. You can just print that out and simply indicate your preferred options and scribble some notes.
Email submissions to PBRF.2012Redesign@tec.govt.nz or post them to Dr Damien Cole, Tertiary Education, Commission, P O Box 27048, Wellington 6141 by Friday, 19 June.
Zeal320 flight attendants seek fair deal
240 cabin crew at Air New Zealand subsidiary Zeal 320 Ltd have been locked out for standing up for a fair deal. These workers are paid tens of thousands of dollars a year less than crew employed directly by Air New Zealand, despite the fact they do the same work, flying to the same destinations wearing exact same uniforms. You can show your support for these flight attendants by signing up to their facebook group.
